1. Buy your HIPPOBAG
You can buy your HIPPOBAG at any of the major DIY retailers nationwide. For a list of our current stockists please click here .
Alternatively you can buy your HIPPOBAG and collection online in one easy transaction. Your HIPPOBAG will arrive in 2 workings days*, you may need to sign for the parcel or provide a safe place where it can be left. You will also receive an email with your unique collection reference number; keep this safe as you will need this to arrange your collection later!
2. Fill it up
When ready to have your rubbish collected, position the bag in accordance with our guidelines for positioning and filling the bag, and fill it with any non-hazardous waste. The HIPPOBAG is ideal for accommodating a variety of waste streams including general household, trade and DIY waste, building rubble, hardcore, soil and garden waste, old bathroom suites and kitchen units, a fireplace, carpets or other oversized waste items.
If you are looking to dispose of plasterboard waste collected please contact us to check the latest guidance, as plasterboard must be segregated into it’s own bag. Our call centre team will be happy to go over this with you before you buy, they can be reached on 0845 850 0 850.
3. Arrange Collection
If you paid for your collection online, give us a call on 0845 850 0 850 to arrange your collection. Don’t forget to have your unique collection reference number ready.
If you bought your bag at one of our stockists you can arrange and pay for your collection online, or call
0845 850 0 850 and make your payment over the phone.
4. We collect
HIPPOWASTE will aim to collect your HIPPOBAG within 5 working days of booking** – you don’t need to be in for us to collect. We will take the bag away, recycling an average of over 80% of the contents!
